The Clever Plan That No One Dared to Try

In a cozy little bakery, a group of mice lived in secret, nibbling on crumbs and darting through tiny holes. Life was good—except for one terrifying problem.

Whiskers the Cat.

Whiskers had sharp claws, piercing eyes, and a silent way of sneaking up on the mice. One by one, their bravest friends had disappeared. The mice were terrified.

One evening, they gathered for a meeting.

“We must stop Whiskers from surprising us!” squeaked Leo, a young and clever mouse. “What if we tie a bell around his neck? That way, we’ll hear him coming and have time to escape!”

The mice cheered. “Brilliant! What a clever idea!” they squeaked.

But then Grandpa Mouse, the wisest of them all, asked, “And who will put the bell on the cat?”

Silence.

The mice glanced at one another, their tails twitching. No one stepped forward.

“Not me,” whispered Pip. “Whiskers is too fast!”

“Nor me,” squeaked Lulu. “He might catch me before I even get close!”

One by one, every mouse shook their head. The brilliant plan remained just a plan—because no one was brave enough to carry it out.

And so, Whiskers continued stalking the bakery, while the mice learned an important lesson:

Moral of the story:
“It’s easy to suggest bold ideas, but carrying them out takes real courage.”
