Lena loved watching the night sky. Every evening, she sat on her porch, gazing up at the glowing moon and the twinkling stars. But one night, as she looked up, something was different. The moon wasn’t its usual round shape—it had a tiny missing piece!
Curious, Lena stepped into her backyard. That’s when she saw something shimmering in the grass. She bent down and picked up a tiny, glowing sliver. It was cold and light, humming softly in her hands.
“Is this… a piece of the moon?” she whispered.
As soon as she spoke, a soft voice echoed in the night.
“Yes, and it must be returned before the night fades away.”
Lena spun around but saw no one. Then, from the shadows, a silver owl with dazzling blue eyes appeared.
“I am Noctis, the guardian of the night,” the owl said, landing gently on Lena’s shoulder. “The moon lost a piece of itself when a strong wind blew through the sky. Without it, the night won’t last long enough, and morning will come too soon.”
Lena’s eyes widened. “Then we have to return it!”
Noctis flapped his wings. “Hold on tight.”
With a deep breath, Lena clutched the moon’s missing piece, and in a flash of silver light, they soared into the sky.
A Journey Through the Stars
Up they went, past the swaying treetops, past the sleepy rooftops, past the shimmering stars. Lena’s heart pounded with excitement as the air became cool and crisp. She had never been this close to the sky before.
As they neared the moon, she noticed tiny fireflies buzzing around it, trying to fix the missing spot.
“They’re the moon’s helpers,” Noctis explained. “But they can’t do this without you.”
Lena stretched out her hand, holding up the tiny sliver. The fireflies surrounded it, their golden light wrapping around the glowing piece. Slowly, carefully, they placed it back where it belonged.
A soft hum filled the air, and the moon glowed brighter than ever.
“You did it!” Noctis hooted happily.
Lena smiled as she admired the now-perfect moon. The sky felt peaceful again, as if the night had sighed in relief.
“Thank you for helping, Lena,” Noctis said as he gently guided her back home.
As they floated down, Lena’s eyelids grew heavy. She yawned, feeling warm and safe. Just as her feet touched the grass, she found herself back on her porch, tucked under a soft blanket.
Was it all a dream? She looked up at the sky. The moon shone brightly, perfectly whole.
Lena smiled. Maybe some dreams are real after all.
